Our first brands, Grand Royal Whisky and Royal Dry Gin were followed by Eagle Whisky, Grand Royal Special Reserve Whisky and Double Gold Whisky, each of which is now an iconic brand in Myanmar.

1995

  • IBTC & MWDC started business with Grand Royal Whisky.
  • First production batch: 14,560 bottles with 50 employees

1997

  • Commissioned Hlegu Distillery Plant

2003

  • Shwe Pyi Thar Bottling Factory – 1 set up in Yangon

2005

  • Mandalay Bottling Factory set up to cater to Upper Myanmar

2009

  • Shwe Pyi Thar Bottling Factory 2 to cater to increased volume
  • Established Myanmar Supply Chain and Marketing Services Co.,Ltd to give logistics support

2010

  • Commissioned Mandalay Distillery Plant

2012

  • Commissioned Yangon Distilery Plant (Hmawbi)

2015

  • Commissioned Yangon Bottling Plant (Hmawbi)

2018

  • Achieved 2018 CSR Excellence Recognition Certificate & terms to “Silver Level” for 3 years continuous recognition which honored by AMCHAM Myanmar.
  • Launched the First International Scotch Whisky bottled in Myanmar.
  • Grand Royal whisky has been listed as the 41 largest spirit brand in the International Wine and Spirit Research Real 100- 2017.

2019

  • GRGI hit the sales target of 10th Million cases
  • GRGI was listed and recognized as Top Ten Taxpayer honored by President H.E U Win Myint
  • Received “Sustainable Freight Transport and Logistics in the Mekong Region Project”
  • Received “The Dream Employer of the Year 2019” Award from the World HRD Congress, Singapore
  • First Myanmar Company to be recognized as Great Workplace by International Accreditation Body, Great Place to Work Institute
  • Achieved 2019 CSR Excellence Recognition Certificate for 4 consecutive years honored by AMCHAM Myanmar
  • GRGI won silver and bronze awards for five categories of Myanmar Employer Awards 2019 powered by Job Net Myanmar

2020

  • GRGI was listed and recognized as Top Ten Taxpayer honored by Presidents H.E U Win Myint 
  • Achieved 2020 “Gold Level” CSR Excellence Recognition Certificate for 5 consecutive years honored by AMCHAM Myanmar

2021

  • Launched Grand Royal Super Smooth Whisky
  • GRGI was certified as Great Place to Work for second time among the local Myanmar companies by Great Place to Work Institute.

2022

  • Launched Grand Royal Signature Ice Blast Whisky & Royal Special Thabawa Vodka
  • Launched New Grand Royal Masterbrand with new visibility across Myanmar
  • GRGI sales recovered post-COVID & crossed 10 million cases
  • Successfully relaunched Global Values@ Core Values Program and Launched Ask HC Program

2023

  • Recovering our distillery operations fully within 11 months after the fire incident. Building better infrastructure for safer working environment and supporting future growth of GRG.
  • Successfully completed GRG Green Energy project with one of the largest rooftop Solar Photovoltaic installations (3.0 MW) in the country at Hmawbi main distillery.
  • Implemented TradeEdge, a new Distributor Management system, automating sales, trade marketing and promoter operations across Myanmar.
  • Grand Royal Black 1 Liter SKU was successfully launched.
  • Successfully handed over GRGI’s CSR Project of Solar Energy Irrigation for Local Farmers, followed by Solar Energy RO Water System & Treatment Plant in San Hpe Model village, Nyaung Lay Bin, Bago Division in line with ThaiBev’s Transformation 2.0.

2024

  • Introduced Chingu Soju, a beloved Korean alcoholic elixir, to Myanmar market as a contribution to the dynamic evolution of Myanmar’s beverage landscape.
